One in court over phone theft

A 23-year-old man, Aluko Adebayo, has been remanded by an Osogbo Chief Magistrates’ Court for alleged theft of a Tecno phone.

   The prosecutor, Inspector Rasaki Olaiwola, told the court that Adebayo committed the offence in July 15, 2019 at about 8 a.m. at Ogidan area, Oke-Baale, Osogbo.

Olaiwola alleged that the accused person stole a Tecno J8, belonging to one Felicia Isaac.

Acording to him, the police arrested the accused person when the cell phone was traced to him.

“The accused used a stick and scissors to cut the net of the room where the phone, was kept and the value of the stolen phone according to the owner is worth about N35,000,” he  added.

The accused person who  is facing one-count of theft,  with no legal representation, pleaded not guilty to the offence.

The offence was said to contravene section 390(9) of the Criminal Code, Cap 34, Vol. 11, Laws of Osun, 2003

The magistrate, Mrs Rofiat Olayemi, therefore,  ordered the remand of the accused person in prison custody due to the magnitude of the alleged offence.

She adjourned the case till August 12, 2019 for consideration of bail application.
