The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Mobility Command has witnessed a change of leadership as Air Vice Marshal (AVM) Michael Nnanye Onyebashi assumed duty as the 18th Air Officer Commanding (AOC) of the Command.

According to the Nigerian Air Force, the handover ceremony, held at the Command Headquarters in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, marked the official transition of leadership from the Acting AOC, AVM Simon Peter, to AVM Onyebashi.

The event followed the recent appointment of the 17th AOC, Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, as the Chief of the Air Staff by President Bola Tinubu on October 24, 2025.

In his remarks, the outgoing Acting AOC, AVM Simon Peter, appreciated officers and personnel for their cooperation and dedication during his tenure.

He lauded the leadership of Air Marshal Aneke for driving improvements in operational efficiency, discipline, and personnel welfare, citing the installation of a 24-hour inverter system at the headquarters as one of the notable achievements.

In his maiden address, AVM Onyebashi pledged to build on the achievements of his predecessors while promoting a culture of excellence, innovation, and teamwork within the Command.

He assured personnel of his unwavering commitment to advancing the Command’s operational goals and aligning with the vision of the Chief of the Air Staff.

The ceremony concluded with the symbolic handover of the Command colour, signifying the transfer of authority. Officers and personnel also extended their appreciation to President Tinubu for the elevation of their former Commander and reaffirmed their loyalty to the President, the Nigerian Air Force, and the ideals of national service.
