Ore bizman’s killing:LG boss restricts Okadas operations

Following the assassination of a popular building materials merchant, Ismaila Awoyinka, in Ore, the headquarters of Odigbo Local Government Area of Ondo State, the Chairman of the council, Hon. Taiwo Adegoroye, has ordered the restriction of movement for both commercial and private motorcyclists in the area.

The restriction takes effect from today, Monday, March 3, between 8:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. until further notice. Anyone who violates the order will face the full wrath of the law.

In a statement issued and made available to The Hope, the council chairman, Adegoroye, said the restriction on the movement of both commercial and private motorcyclists within the specified hours was in compliance with the state government’s directive to prevent further killings perpetrated by criminals using motorcycles.

It would be recalled that the deceased, Awoyinka, was assassinated by unknown persons who ambushed him on a motorcycle and shot him dead.

The Hope Metro gathered that the incident occurred at his residence, opposite Caring Heart Mega School, Idi Mango area in Ore, on Saturday.

According to a source, “He was assassinated the moment he left the mosque after the Taraweeh prayer (a voluntary prayer during Ramadan), very close to his house, around 8:35 p.m. on the fateful day.

“After he left the mosque, some persons dressed in white attire alighted from a motorcycle and hid nearby. As the deceased was about to enter his house, they ambushed him and shot him.

“He was shot at close range, and his intestines were exposed. He died instantly,”* the source said.

Adegoroye, in the statement, said the restriction is being implemented in the interest of public safety and order.

The statement partly reads: “The general public is hereby informed that motorcycle (Okada) operations within Ore and its environs are restricted with immediate effect from Monday, March 3, between 8:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. until further notice.

“This measure has been implemented in the interest of public safety and order. Any violation of this directive will attract strict sanctions from law enforcement agencies.

“We urge all residents and motorcycle operators to comply accordingly to avoid legal consequences.”
