Residents of Mile 9 and Mile 10 in Ore, the headquarters of Odigbo Local Government area of Ondo State, have raised the alarm over incessant attacks on women in the areas.
The Hope gathered that suspected individuals had been sexually abusing women on their farms.
A victim, who craved anonymity, narrated her ordeal: Her words: “While on my farm, trying to harvest some crops, some individuals suspected to be rapists, sexually assaulted me.
“I struggled with him, but he eventually overpowered me and fled. I managed to stand up, but there was no one around to rescue me.
“I later went to the hospital for treatment because, while struggling with him, I sustained some injuries.”
A youth leader in the area, identified as Oluwatosin, confirmed the incident to our correspondent and expressed displeasure over repeated sexual abuse of women on their farms.
“This abuse against our women has been happening repeatedly, and they have been living in fear.
“Our women are no longer safe when going to their farms,” he said.
