Organisers begin screening for Obas’ Cup

The organisers of Obas’ Cup have begun screening of participating players for the much anticipated grassroots tourney across Ondo state.
The competition tagged under -17 male Obas’ Cup football tournament will involve a team each from all the local government in the state.
According to the organisers, “the screening has started few days ago, the criteria for the screening are; birth certificate, primary six certificate and two photo passports to ensure there is no age cheating in the competition.”
The president of the African Grassroots Football Development (AGFD) organisers, Prince Moruf Adams said the essence of the screening is to ensure that players that will participate in the tournament are within the age 17.
He said: “We are doing all we could to ensure that we discourage age cheating which has done our sports more harm than good.”
Odigbo, Ondo West ,Ondo East, Ile Oluji Oke Igbo, Akure South and Akure North local governments and others have all concluded their screening while the remaining local governments will be covered this week.
