The Ondo State Agency Against – Gender Based Violence, OSAA-GBV, has toured the 18 Local Government areas of the State, with the aim of bringing people’s awareness sensitising the people about the Violence Against Persons Prohibition (VAPP) Law.
The last in its series was a visit to Ile-Oluji in Ile- Oluji/Oke-Igbo Local Government, where the Chairman of the Agency, Chief Mrs Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu expressed delight with the turnout of the people of the Council .
Represented by the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Gender Matters, Mrs. Temitope Daniyan, The First Lady said VAPP Law has come to stay in the State.
She admonished the people to stay away from vices which can make them victims of the law emphasizing that, anyone who violates it would face the wrath of the law.
The Executive Secretary of the Agency, Mrs Bolanle Afolabi expressed satisfaction with the acceptance of the VAPP Law in all the 18 local governments visited, noting that it is a thing of joy for her to know that people of the State are now acquainted with the content of the VAPP Law.
She enjoined participants to become ambassadors of the agency. The Wives of the Chairmen of the 18 Local Governments thanked Her Excellency for bringing the programme to the grassroots, adding that, all invited stakeholders must put hands on deck in ensuring the success of the programme.
According to them, charity begins at home, hence for parents to be more responsive and responsible in training their children, to evolve peaceful societies.
Copies of the VAPP Law were also distributed to the participants in each Local Government visited.
