The Chairman of Ose Local Government, Kolapo Ojo, has presented a proposed ₦5.2 billion appropriation bill to the Legislative Council, unveiling a bold vision for inclusive development and grassroots transformation in the 2025 fiscal year.
Titled “Budget for Sustainable Growth,” the proposal outlines a detailed framework aimed at boosting socio-economic progress, enhancing infrastructure, and fulfilling the administration’s electoral promises.
The total budget stands at ₦5,221,393,025.51 and is expected to drive key investments across various sectors critical to the well-being of Ose residents.
Presenting the budget, Ojo described it as more than a financial document, calling it a direct commitment to the people of the local government.
“This budget is not just a financial plan; it is a promise to the people of Ose. We are committed to using this proposal to drive sustainable growth, improve infrastructure, and enhance the overall standard of living across our local government area,” he stated.
The budget places strong emphasis on accelerating socio-economic development, initiating new community-based projects, and completing existing ones. It prioritises infrastructure upgrades, including the construction and rehabilitation of rural roads, rural electrification projects, and the renovation of public buildings.
In the education sector, the budget proposes the renovation of schools, the provision of teaching materials, and enhanced support for educators.
Healthcare delivery is also a major focus, with planned upgrades to local health centres and the supply of essential drugs and services.
In agriculture, the administration seeks to support farmers by providing quality inputs, training opportunities, and access to mechanised tools.
Youth and women’s empowerment is another critical component of the proposal, with funding set aside for skills acquisition initiatives, micro-credit access, and support for small businesses. Water and sanitation projects are also on the agenda, including the drilling of new boreholes and the launch of hygiene campaigns in underserved communities.
In line with his administration’s commitment to good governance, the Chairman proposed the establishment of a community-led monitoring committee to ensure transparency and accountability in the implementation of the budget.
“Our vision is to build a local government where every project is people-driven and every naira spent is justified,” he said.
The proposed budget is currently before the Ose Legislative Council for consideration and approval.
