Ose LG Chair reopens Ifon Police Station after months of closure

Security operations have officially resumed in Ifon, headquarters of Ose Local Government Area of Ondo State, as the Divisional Police Headquarters was reopened in the area following the commissioning  of the face-lifted facility by the Chairman of the Council, Kolapo Ojo.

The new structure now has modern facilities and upgraded administrative infrastructure aimed at enhancing security and law enforcement operations in the area.

Recalled that the facility had been out of operation since February 15, 2025 when it was set ablaze by angry youths protesting the death of a young man, Tobi Bobade, shortly after his arrest by the police.

The incident triggered unrest and led to the destruction of some parts of the station, including the administrative block and two police vehicles.

Following the unrest, Ojo initiated peace talks with stakeholders and led the reconstruction efforts that have now transformed the station into a modern policing center.

Speaking at the event, Ojo stated, “Our people deserve safety, justice, and modern governance. This recommissioning is not just a return to policing, but a forward leap into a more secure, accountable, and responsive local government.”

The chairman also expressed gratitude to key partners, including the Ifon Divisional Police Rehabilitation Committee led by Chief Tunde Eniolorunda, and the Ifon Development Union under Chief Dr. Olufemi Awani, for their support in bringing the project to completion.

The reopening ceremony drew the attention of top dignitaries, including the Ondo State Commissioner of Police, CP Wilfred Olatokunbo Afolabi, senior police officers, traditional rulers, community leaders, and residents, who lauded the chairman’s swift and decisive leadership in restoring the station.
