Ose LG chairman leads sanitation exercise to prevent cholera outbreak

In a proactive move to prevent a potential cholera outbreak, the Executive Chairman of Ose Local Government, Kolapo Ojo, led a compulsory sanitation exercise at the popular Ifon Market.

Personally supervising the clean-up operation, the chairman expressed displeasure over the poor hygiene practices observed among traders.

He emphasized the critical need for maintaining clean environment, especially in crowded areas like markets, to avert future health risks.

“There is currently no reported case of cholera in the state or nearby communities, but we cannot afford to wait until it happens before taking action,” Ojo stated.

“This exercise is a preventive measure to safeguard the health of our people.”

Accompanied by local officials, market leaders, and sanitation personnel, Ojo stressed that the council would intensify efforts to enforce regular sanitation across all major markets in the area.

He warned that traders and stakeholders must take full responsibility for keeping their environment clean, adding that routine monitoring would be instituted to ensure compliance.

Reaffirming his administration’s commitment to public health and safety, the chairman said the council would sustain environmental practices through continuous community engagement.

Ojo urged residents to support government efforts by practicing basic hygiene and maintaining clean surroundings, noting that “cleanliness is not just a habit but a duty to ourselves and our community.”
