Chairman of Ose Local Government, Kolapo Ojo, has taken steps to restore peace and foster unity in Idogun Community, Ireakari LCDA, as he intervened to mediate and address lingering disputes in the area.
During his visit, Ojo commended the Nigerian Police Force (NPF) for its efforts in maintaining order, stressing the urgency of finding a peaceful resolution to the crisis.
Addressing residents, he appealed to all parties to set aside their differences and embrace dialogue as the only pathway to lasting harmony.
“As a strong advocate for peace, I appeal to everyone to prioritize unity over conflict,” he stated, emphasising that sustainable development can only thrive in a peaceful environment.
The council boss also urged the youth to shun violence and embrace peaceful coexistence, noting that crises and riots serve no beneficial purpose.
Reaffirming the government’s commitment to resolving the issue, Ojo quoted Section 14(2)(b) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, stating that “the security and welfare of the people shall be the primary purpose of government.”
He urged the people of Idogun to embrace dialogue, stressing that peaceful assembly and constructive engagement are fundamental pillars of democracy.
To ensure continuous engagement, Ojo mandated the Ward Councilor and other key stakeholders to sustain dialogue with the youth and reinforce peace initiatives within the community.
