Ose LG Chairman orders quarantine after thunder strike kills eight cows

The Chairman of Ose Local Government area of Ondo State, Mr. Kolapo Ojo has ordered the immediate quarantine of the environment where cows were struck by thunder last Sunday in Oriohin of the council area in the state.

He also warned residents of Oriohin to avoid consuming the dead cows killed by a thunderstrike in the area

The incident occurred, following the mysterious death of at least eight cows struck by thunder in the local government.

In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Oluwaseun Ogunniyi, Ojo confirmed that the cows died as a result of the thunderstrike, clarifying that there were no indications of disease or infection,

“This incident is a natural disaster, but it is important that we take all necessary precautions to ensure public safety and prevent any health hazards,” he stated.

To avert potential health risks, Ojo directed veterinary and environmental health officials to promptly dispose of the animal carcasses.

He also mandated a thorough fumigation of the affected area to prevent contamination.

In addition, the council boss cautioned residents against visiting the site or consuming any part of the dead animals.

He further urged the community to remain vigilant and report any unusual developments in the vicinity.
