Osemawe summons stakeholders’ meeting on security

Osemawe of Ondo kingdom, Oba Victor Kiladejo has summoned stakeholders in the kingdom to a security meeting to forestall peace and tranquility.

The meeting which was held in his palace hall, had in attendance the Nigeria Police Force, Religious leaders, Ondo West Local Government chairman, traditionalists, Osemawe in Council, chiefs, Hausa community, Market women, and youths among other stakeholders.

Addressing the stakeholders, Oba Kiladejo frowned at the recent Owo church massacre and explained that quick action must be taken to resist such occurrence in the kingdom.

He hinted that security is a journey of no destination, called on youths to shun cultism, and hard drugs and enjoined residents to be cautious of strangers in their surroundings and as well give first-hand information to security personnel to ensure peace.

He, therefore, appealed to the people in the kingdom not to panic or cause unrest, noting that traditionalists and other stakeholders are on top of the situation.

Speaking, the Area Commander, Ondo, Assistant commissioner of Police, ACP Fasesan Ibrahim thanked Oba Kiladejo for calling the meeting and said all hands have been on deck to put situations under control.

ACP Ibrahim, therefore, charged parents to caution their children not to fight other tribes for the perpetrators of the barbaric act are unknown thereby promising to station police officers in worship centres and markets to secure the lives and property of the citizens

On their part the Oludoko of Udoko, Oba Samuel Akinmusere said rumour mongers should stop fake news so as not to cause panic in the kingdom. He suggested that residents should ensure self-defence mechanism.

The Bishop of Ondo Anglican diocese, Rev Dr Stephen Adeniran Oni represented by the church administrator, Ven. Solomon Adeleye said social jingles are needed to educate the residents, also the Chief Imam of Ondo kingdom Alhaji Sheik Dr Abdulbashir Alimi said residents should continue to pray for the nation.

Also the chairman of the Ondo West Local Government, Mr Ebenezer Akinsulire represented by his Vice, Mr Akintunde Folajimi Jimiok thanked the stakeholders for being supportive and as well appealed to them never to relent in giving their best for the community.

The  Seriki Hausa of Ondo  commended the Osemawe for prioritizing the security of lives and property of the residents and therefore pledged the continuous support of the Hausa community for the kingdom.
