In order to ensure that more residents embrace the COVID-19 vaccination in Ondo State, an advocacy programme was yesterday organised by the State Primary Health Care Development Agency (OSPHCDA).
The event which was in partnership with Africa CDC Saving Lives and Livelihood through the Red Cross Society had in attendance leaders of groups in the informal sector in Akure yesterday.
Addressing the gathering, State Mobilisation Officer, Mrs Yetunde Akinyosoye commended stakeholders for their love for the state, stating that the event aimed at deliberating on ways of sensitising residents on the need to embrace the COVID-19 vaccination.
She lamented the vaccination performance of the population of the state as released by the National Primary Health Care Development Agency noting that the state stands for excellence.
While affirming that the vaccines have no side effects, she stressed the need for all to get vaccinated for adequate protection against the virus, stating that government is ready to get the vaccines closer to residents at no cost.
Akinyosoye who hinted that all hands are on deck to take the vaccination to institutions of learning in the state, urged them to see themselves as key stakeholders in their various associations that would help government tackle the pandemic through effective vaccination.
She appealed to them to ensure that they sensitise their members on the need to take the complete doses of the vaccination, assuring that government will not relent in sensitising residents through the media.
