Ondo State Sports Council (OSSC) has assured of its continued collaboration with the new executives and members of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Ondo State chapter in propagating sporting activities in the state and beyond.

The General Manager, of Ondo State Sports Council, Mr Henry Babatunde gave the assurance during a courtesy visit of executives of Ondo SWAN to the management of the council at the Board room of the state Sports Complex, Akure.

Babatunde who congratulated the newly inaugurated executives of SWAN, acknowledged the role of sports writers in disseminating information to develop sports at the grassroots

He assured that the council would look into the request of Ondo SWAN to boost their reportage, urging the association not to relent in their efforts to make Ondo State proud at the youth games holding in Delta State.

 “I want to reaffirm my pledge that whatever is in our power to do, we will do it in the interest of all. Let’s work together in unity and as a team,” he said.

Earlier, the Chairman of Ondo SWAN, Mr Segun Giwa, thanked the management of the sports council for providing a space for Ondo SWAN to have a secretariat that would ensure continuous synergy between athletes and sports writers.

Giwa emphasized the need for the council to ensure there are media officers in each sports association to report activities of other sports apart from football.

”I am using this medium to tell the General Manager that there is a need to incorporate media officers to handle coverage of other sports apart from football.

Giwa further charged the management of the sports council to ensure that Ondo State is well represented at the Youth games.

He called on the government and well-meaning Nigerians to collaborate with the executives to have a befitting office to host sports administrators and guests at the secretariat.
