Osun 2022: Court dismisses Adeleke’s application, fixes May 18 for judgement

Michael Ofulue, Osogbo

A Federal High Court sitting in Osogbo, has dismissed an application brought by some persons seeking to be parties in a case instituted by the Osun State Governorship aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Omooba Dotun Babayemi.

After listening to arguments by all Counsels, the Court, presided over by  Justice  Ayo-Emmanuel, adjourned the case to Wednesday, May 18,2022, for ruling.

Babayemi is challenging the nomination and submission of Senator Ademola by the Peoples Democratic Party to INEC and the validity of the governorship primaries conducted at the stadium against the  delegates who voted at the party primaries at WOCDIF as ordered by the court.

While Mr. Yusuf Ali (SAN) led other Counsels for the plaintiff, Atolagbe, appeared for the PDP, Jimi- Bada for Senator Ademola Adeleke.

It will be recalled that on March 3,2022, an Osun State High Court sitting in Ijebu-Jesa, had authenticated the Ward Congress that produced 215 delegates under the then state Chairman that produced Senator Ademola Adeleke as authentic candidate of the July 16 governorship election in Osun State.

Also on March 10, 2022, again, the same court pronounced that the PDP governorship primary election that produced Babayemi as the gubernatorial candidate, was the legally recognized and because the delegates that voted for him were the ones backed by the law.

However, despite the suit INEC had recognize Senator Ademola Adeleke as the party flagbearer having published his name alongside with other candidates contesting the same position in osun Guber poll.
