The Commander of the Osun State Security Network, codenamed Amotekun Corps, Dr. Isaac Omoyele, has reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to the sustenance of peace, security, and stability across the state, stressing that collective effort remains the only sure path to a safer society.
Dr. Omoyele, who spoke in an exclusive chat with our correspondent emphasised that peace and security cannot be achieved by government or security operatives alone, but through the active support and cooperation of all citizens.
“The only panacea for peace and progress in any society is for everyone to join hands together in promoting unity, trust, and safety. Security is a collective responsibility. We all have roles to play — from the government and security agencies to traditional institutions, community leaders, and ordinary citizens,” he said.
The Amotekun boss explained that since its establishment, the South-West Security Network, popularly known as Amotekun, has become a critical pillar in complementing the efforts of conventional security agencies such as the police, civil defense, and DSS in maintaining peace and protecting lives and property.
He said the Osun Amotekun Corps has, under his leadership, recorded significant achievements in the fight against crime, including the arrest of several suspected kidnappers, cattle rustlers, burglars, and other criminal elements who had long terrorised some communities in the state.
He said the corps, through well-coordinated intelligence gathering, community engagement, and rapid response operations, has successfully curbed incidents of violent crimes, thereby restoring confidence in local security architecture.
“Our major focus is to make Osun State uncomfortable for criminals and those who want to reap where they did not sow. We have developed tactical operations and patrol teams that work round the clock to ensure our people can sleep with their eyes closed,” Dr. Omoyele stated.
He added that the corps continues to enjoy strong working relationships with other security agencies, stressing that synergy, intelligence sharing, and mutual respect have been key to the success recorded so far.
“We are in constant collaboration with the Nigeria Police, NSCDC, DSS, NDLEA, Immigration, and the military. Crime prevention, detection, and control cannot be effective without cooperation among all stakeholders. That is why we always strengthen our partnership to enhance intelligence flow and operational coordination,” he explained.
The Amotekun commander also used the opportunity to commend the administration of Governor Ademola Adeleke for its unflinching support to the security outfit, particularly in the areas of logistics, equipment, and personnel welfare.
He noted that such backing has boosted the morale of operatives and motivated them to perform their duties more diligently.
Dr. Omoyele further assured residents that the Amotekun Corps will not relent in its mission of protecting lives and property across all local government areas of the state, urging communities to continue to provide useful information to aid the corps and other agencies in combating crime.
“We remain fully committed to the peace and stability of Osun. We are not resting on our oars. Our men are on constant patrol across the state, especially in border communities and flashpoint areas. Together, we can make Osun one of the safest states in Nigeria,” he concluded
