Our correspondent learnt that  the operatives were alerted over the robbery incident by passersby plying the route and they immediately swung into action  and dislodged the armed robbers who later ran into the bush.

Sources said the  expressway has been a perpetual route for armed robbers for a very long time.

Osun State Amotekun  Commander, Brig. Gen. Bashir Adewinmbi confirmed the incident.

He said  his men  on routine patrol along the Akure/Ibadan Expressway were alerted to the activities of armed robbers along the road and they swung into action immediately and   dislodged the criminals during the gun duel.

The  robbers whose number could not be ascertained  ran into bush after a fierce gun battle.

“We have reached out to the owner of the recovered items and the driver through waybill and the vehicle and the items will be handed over to them,”the Amotekun boss assured.

Adewinmbi also revealed that the operatives are working day and night to send criminals out of the state.

He urged the residents of the state to expose criminals in the environment to the security agents, adding that they should be security conscious about their environment.
