Osun Amotekun meets Fulani leaders over kidnapping

In its determination to safeguard the lives of residents in Osun State, Amotekun at the weekend met with Fulani leaders at Ila -Orangun to discuss ways in which the incidences of kidnapping and abductions at the borders could be tackled headlong.

The meeting was sequel to a distress call that some some Fulani headers had entered Ila-Orangun through Agbamu road in Kwara State to Osun State.

According to information, the state operatives who swung into action immediately to curtail any unlawful act met the Fulanis in the forest with their belongings and subsequently approached them to know their mission in Ila-Orangun.

While meeting with the Seriki of Fulani in Ila-Orangun, Alhaji Jimoh Ibrahim, on the unlawful entry of Fulanis to Ila-Orangun through Agbamu Rose, the Osun Amotekun Commander, Brig. Gen. Bashir Adewinmbi said the meeting had become necessary due to unlawful invasion of suspected Fulani herders to the state .

Alhaji Jimoh Ibrahim, Seriki Fulani of Ila-Orangun which comprises Bororo, applauded the Amotekun operatives for the way and manner of handling the case and for their wonderful performances all the while, in tackling criminality in the state.

He promised that the concerned Fulanis will go back to where they come from just as he assured the Amotekun of his readiness to work with the corps in flushing out the bad eggs.

Recall that the Corps Commander of Osun Amotekun Corps, Brig. Gen. Bashir Adewinmbi, during his New Year greetings to the people of Osun State, assured them of his readiness to partner with all relevant stakeholders and deploy both kinetic and non-kinetic approaches to ensure that the lives and property of citizens and residents of the state were protected.

While emphasizing that the activities of the kidnappers would be permanently checked, Amotekun commander said the fight against criminality will be taken seriously.

“We will take this fight to criminals in their hideouts. Amotekun is collaborating with other security agencies in its quest to rid the state off criminal elements.”

The Corps Commander, however, disclosed that a specially trained and equipped Anti-Kidnapping team is already in place to work with the police in confronting the monsters named kidnappers and abductors.
