Men of the Amotekun Corps in Osun State have arrested two men for allegedly impersonating as police officers.
The arrested suspects are Isaiah Friday Ezekiel, 41, from Cross Rivers State, Calabar, and John Apata Koffi, 60, from Togo.
Ezekiel and Koffi were alleged of impersonating police and stealing a bag of cement at Eleweran Kajola village, Ile-Ife, Osun State.
The duo were nabbed after a complaint was lodged at Amotekun Ife Command against the activities of the suspects by residents of the area.
Our correspondent learnt that Amotekun, on receiving information swung into action and arrested the culprits after they stole a bag of cement while in police uniform.
“Items found in their possession include, police uniform, police beret, iron toy gun, and charms.
Confirming the arrests to newsmen in Osogbo, the Commander of Osun Amotekun Corps, Brig. Gen. Bashir Adewinmbi said the suspects were arrested after a complaint lodged against them by residents of the area for engaging in house burgling and partaking in illegal activities in the area.
“During interrogation, the suspects confessed to perpetrating the act and that they have been involved in such activities for a long time. They confessed that they used to disguise as a police officers to extort the people,”Adewinmbi said.
The suspects, it was learnt have been handed over to the police for subsequent investigation and interrogation.
