By Michael Ofulue, Osogbo

Operatives of the Osun Amotekun Corps have arrested two suspects, Ogunjobi Ayanyemi, 39, and Muritala Olajire, 42, for allegedly causing a crisis in Araromi Owu, Irewole Local Government Area of Osun State.

The suspects were apprehended in their hideout following a tip-off and credible information.

They were allegedly involved in the crisis that erupted in the town on Tuesday and Wednesday, where two people died and many houses and shops were vandalized and burnt.

Confirming the arrest to newsmen in Osogbo, the Corps Commander of Osun Amotekun Corps, Dr. Adekunle Omoyele, said the suspects were arrested at different locations in the town following a tip-off.

He said the suspects’ involvement followed the crisis in which two people were reportedly killed and houses and shops were burnt.

“Their arrest followed the destruction of houses and shops, and my men swung into action immediately and apprehended the culprits in their hideout in the town.”

Upon investigation, the suspects admitted to committing the crime and mentioned their cohorts.

Omoyele urged inhabitants to assist security agencies with reasonable intelligence information to tackle any potential security threat in the state.

The suspects, according to the Commander, have been handed over to the police for subsequent interrogation and prosecution.
