Osun Amotekun recovers stolen vehicle, 6 LG televisions from armed bandits in Ode-Omu

By Michael Ofulue, Osogbo

The Osun State Amotekun Corps has successfully recovered a stolen Toyota Matrix vehicle and six 42-inch LG televisions following a violent armed robbery at a hotel in Ode-Omu, Osun State.

It was gathered that a gang of armed bandits stormed a hotel in the town over the weekend and attacked guests who had traveled from Lagos State to attend a funeral ceremony.

During the raid, the assailants carted away a Toyota Matrix valued at approximately ₦7 million and six LG televisions estimated at over ₦3 million.

Following the attack, the victims promptly reported the incident to the Amotekun Corps Command in Ayedaade Local Government, Gbongan.

In a swift and coordinated response, operatives from both the local and state commands launched a tactical tracking operation.

In the course of the operation, a high-risk gun duel ensued between the robbers and Amotekun operatives, with crucial support from the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Ogere Command.

The intense confrontation forced the hoodlums to abandon the stolen items in a bush near Ogere in Ogun State. Some of the suspects are believed to have escaped with gunshot injuries.

Confirming the development, the Corps Commander of Osun Amotekun, Chief Adekunle Isaac Omoyele, praised his men for their courage and tactical efficiency.

“This operation showcases Amotekun’s unwavering commitment to protecting the lives and property of citizens in Osun State,” he stated, while also acknowledging the valuable support of the FRSC Ogere Command in facilitating the successful recovery.

The stolen vehicle and electronics were transported back to Osogbo and formally returned to their rightful owners on Monday at the Amotekun Headquarters Operation Base by Operations Commander Olagunju Joseph.

“Their response was timely and effective. We need to encourage and collaborate with them,” he noted.

Commander Omoyele used the opportunity to call on residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities in their communities.

“Security is a shared responsibility. Our doors are open to reports and intelligence from the public. Osun Amotekun will not relent in ensuring that criminals find no refuge in our state,” he affirmed.
