Stakeholders in the Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have urged the party’s leadership to zone its gubernatorial ticket to the Osun West Senatorial District.

They stated that this move is part of strategic efforts to unseat Governor Ademola Adeleke in the 2026 elections.

The group, during a solidarity rally in Osogbo, the state capital, submitted a letter to the party secretariat, urging the leadership to ensure equity in power distribution across the state.

Addressing newsmen after the rally, the Coordinator of the group, under the aegis of the Coalition of Osun APC Interest Groups (COAIG), Obafemi Amoo, emphasised that for the party to reclaim power in the state, it should consider fielding a candidate from the Osun West Senatorial District.

In his words:
“As concerned members of our great party, we have come out today in large numbers to register our interest in seeing Osun State return to the APC and align once again with the central government under the leadership of our change-maker, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

“Judging from Osun State’s current political climate, we only stand a chance of winning with a candidate from the Osun West Senatorial District.

“Therefore, we humbly appeal for your consideration, driven by our passion for the party and the progress of Osun State.

“The Progressive Family has an abundance of credible and viable candidates from the West, and we implore the party leadership to consider this option in the best interest of both the party and the state.

“It is also important to note that while a governor from the Osun East Senatorial District has served for eight years, governors from the Central Senatorial District have had an unprecedented opportunity to govern for 15 and a half years (eight of which were under progressive leadership) in the current political dispensation that began in 1999. Meanwhile, Osun West has never had the chance to produce a governor under a progressive administration.”
