The All Progressives Congress, APC, Osun state chapter has expressed delight with the majority judgment of the Court of Appeal which confirmed the victory of Gboyega Oyetola as the duly elected governor of the state of Osun.

A statement by the party’s Director of Publicity, Barr. Kunle Oyatomi,  said the judgement has put the records straight much beyond the controversy over last November’s governorship election.

Oyatomi noted that there has been a lot of expectations and anxiety on both sides until the judgment was given in favour of the APC.

“As far as we are concerned, we have no doubt about the fact that we are the majority party in the state and the facts on the ground tells the story eloquently.

“Few months after the erstwhile disputed governorship election, the National Assembly votes took place. APC won two of the three Senate seats; Six of the Nine Reps seats; and 23 of the 26 House of Assembly seats.

“How then could we have lost the governorship election? We may not be able to explain what was behind Adeleke’s performance that he came so close in November.

The party spokesperson said it is time to move on and concentrate efforts on the transformation work that started in 2010 and which the people have mandated Oyetola to continue and improve upon.

“That’s a job the new governor and the APC are determined to accomplish by the special grace of Allah.”

Meanwhile, The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Osun state chapter has described the judgment of the Appeal Court as shocking.

The state chairman of the party, Hon Soji Adagunodo disclosed this on Thursday while reacting to the judgment in Osogbo.

He said: “We received the Appeal Court Judgement of the Osun State Election petition of today with a huge shock.

“Considering all evidences before the lower court and legal points adduced by our legal team at the Appeal Court, we expect victory at the Appeal Court but that’s the beauty of democracy, you win one you lose one and it is not over until it is over

Adagunodo, who reposed  the party’s confidence in the judiciary, said it does not mean that once in a while there won’t be some hiccups in the judicial process.

“It is understandable and expected that all judges are not the same and they don’t think the same and we believe that at the end of the day the Supreme Court will do justice to our case and victory will be ours.

He enjoined party supporters to be peaceful, calm resolute and have high hope, noting that in the next two months, Senator Ademola Adeleke  will be declared as the governor of Osun State.
