From Fisayo Akinduro, Osogbo

The new Vice Chancellor of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso, (LAUTECH) Prof. Michael Olufisayo has been charged to explore opportunities to sustain and move the institution forward.

This charge was made by the Chairman, House Committee on Finance and Appropriation, Mr Kamil Oyedele during the 2019 budget defence of Ministries, Departments, Agencies (MDAs) and Institutions at the State Assembly Complex, Osogbo.

Oyedele urged the VC to step up efforts on revolutionising the institution to meet its set objectives.

He described the former Vice Chancellor, Professor Gbadegesin Adedeji as a performer in institution management and urged the incoming VC to emulate his predecessor.

The lawmaker urged the management to turn their weaknesses to opportunities to move the institution forward and sustain the status of being the best State University of Technology in Nigeria.

His words: “I want to advise you to turn your weaknesses to opportunities to lift the school to greater heights and we need to sustain all what is binding us together”.

“I assure you that the House will give you all the maximum support to succeed in the institution of learning”, he added.

The lawmakers in their separate contributions urged the management of the institution to always relate with the Education Committee of the House to achieve success.

They advised the management staff to use their experience to lift the institution higher in learning and character.

Meanwhile, the House has directed the Ministry of Education to forward the list of all private and public schools in the state to the Assembly for proper documentation.

The legislators also urged the Teachers’ Establishment and Pension Office to work faster on teachers pensions across the state to ease their pains.
