Osun Assembly urges LG boss on inclusive govt

Osun State House of Assembly has urged Mr Amodu Taiwo and Mr Oyekanmi Laide as the Chairman and Vice-Chairman respectively of Ede-North Local Government Caretaker Committee, to prioritise an inclusive, result-oriented government.
The House gave the advice during the confirmation of the nomination of the chairman and his vice, after private screening of the candidates by the parliamentarians.
The State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke had forwarded the list for replacement, following the demise of the former Chairman, Mr Jimoh Oyekanmi.
In another development, the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Mr. Adewale Egbedun has aligned himself with the series of benefits attached to the bridging of the 10- year age difference between the federal and state judicial officers
This was brought to the fore during the policy thrust presentation by Mr. Kanmi Ajibola, the sponsor of,” the Osun State High Court and Customary Court of Appeal Registrars, Secretary to the State Judicial Service Commission, Solicitor-General of the State Ministry of Justice, State Magistrates and District Customary Court Presidents, Retirement Age Bill 2023.”
Members representing Ede South, Ife-Central, Ola-Oluwa and Ifelodun State Constituencies, in their separate remarks, enunciated that if the bill is given accelerated passage into law ,Osun will not only be domesticating the law, as it is at the federal level,but the State will also have the advantage of being represented duly at the Apex courts of the country.
In the same vein, Osun State Urban and Rural Access Roads Authority (OSURARA), Bill, 2023 and Osun State Roads Funds Bill, 2023 both passed the first reading, while the Committee of the whole House amended the Osun State Local Government Areas(creation and administration) Amendment No. 6, Bill, 2023.
