Osun begins polio vaccination September 30

The Chairman Board of Osun State Primary Health Care Development Board, Tajudeen Adisa, has flagged-off a 2-day training workshop for selected health officials across 30 local governments and Area office in the State.
Speaking at the programme, Adisa urged health workers in the State not relent in their duties, stating that Governor Ademola Adeleke is passionate about delivering quality healthcare services to all.
Adisa disclosed that the vaccination against Polio virus that causes poliomyelitis will commences on September 30, 2023 and end on October 3, 2023 in the State.
Osun Primary Health Care Board Chairman, who further hinted that the vaccination is packaged for the children within 0 to 59 months, urged the general public, particularly nursing mothers and caregivers, to make sure their children between the stipulated age range are vaccinated during the exercise.
The Board Chairman said “As we all know that Nigeria has not detected any case of the wild polio virus anywhere since August 2016, this critical milestone in the polio eradication programme is achieved as a result of your support and commitment of all our supporting partners (NPHCDA, UNICEF,WHO) and our committed and ever reliable health workers that we have in the State”.
In his welcome address the Executive Secretary, Osun State Primary Health Care Development Board, Dr. Oluwole Fabiyi appreciated all health workers in the State and implored them to be more committed to their duties so that Osun State can maintain her Zero Wild Polio Virus status.
While appreciating the World Health Organisation (WHO ), United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA) and other partners for the support, Dr. Fabiyi assured that the State Government would not relent in providing health security for its citizens.
