The First Lady of Osun State, Chief (Mrs.) Titilola Adeleke, has called on well-meaning Nigerians both at home and in the diaspora to embrace the spirit of giving back to society, especially in areas that improve the health and well-being of the people.
She made the appeal while flagging off a four-day free medical, school, and community outreach organised by Hope Across Ages Foundation UK in partnership with the Osun State Ministry of Health. The event held at the State Specialist Hospital, Asubiaro, Osogbo.
Mrs. Adeleke commended the convener of the outreach, Dr. Titilayo Eniitan Kolawole, an Osun indigene based in the United Kingdom, for her dedication to humanitarian service, describing her efforts as “a shining example of selfless contribution to societal development.”
She explained that the initiative which features free medical check-ups, drug distribution to over 200 elderly citizens, educational support for children, and food aid for vulnerable residents — is in line with the Adeleke administration’s five-point agenda focused on improving the welfare of Osun residents.
“The responsibility of making life better for our people cannot be left to the government alone. Everyone has a role to play,” she stressed.
Addressing the gathering, the Commissioner for Health, Barr. Jola Akintola praised the foundation for complementing government’s people-oriented programmes.
In his remarks, Dr. Isiaka Adekunle, Permanent Secretary, Osun State Ministry of Health, described the programme as a meaningful contribution to the state’s drive to enhance healthcare delivery, education, and social support systems.
Also speaking, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Primary Health Care, Dr. Michael Oyerinde; and the Permanent Secretary, Hospitals Management Board, Dr. Abayomi Oni, reaffirmed the governor’s commitment to expanding access to quality healthcare through partnerships with relevant organisations.
Explaining the motivation behind the outreach, Dr. Titilayo Kolawole said it was designed to support vulnerable groups with essential healthcare, educational materials, and food supplies.
She thanked the Osun First Lady for her unwavering passion for the welfare of citizens and encouraged beneficiaries to prioritise regular medical checkups to prevent avoidable illnesses.
The event concluded with the distribution of drugs, school materials, and food items to hundreds of beneficiaries across selected communities in the state.
