The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Osun State Command, has arrested and prosecuted three individuals for vandalising water pipes belonging to the Osun State Water Corporation.

According to the State Commandant, Igbalawole Sotiyo, the suspects, Michael Odeniran, 43 years old, Ganiyu Mutiu Olalekan, 32 years old, and Muritala Ridwan, 32 years old, were apprehended on April 10, 2025, at approximately 11:00am at the Oloki Reservoir Site near Akoda, along the Gbongan-Osogbo Road in Osun State.

Further investigations revealed that the suspects, who are laterite miners, damaged a 450mm pipe while engaged in mining activities.

The trio was subsequently arraigned before a Magistrates’ Court in Ede on April 24, 2025, where they pleaded not guilty.

The court remanded them at the Ife Correctional Centre.

Commandant Sotiyo issued a stern warning to individuals engaging in the vandalism of government infrastructure, urging them to desist from such activities or face the full consequences of the law.

“NSCDC is committed to protecting critical national assets and infrastructure, and those found culpable will be brought to justice,” he emphasised.
