Osun NSCDC nabs suspected killer of herder

Operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) in Osun State have arrested Paul Amaechi, a suspected killer of a herder at Talamu village, Ago-Owu in Ayedaade local government of the state.
The victim, whose name was yet to be ascertained, was found at a farm in Ago-Owu Farm Settlement on Thursday.
It was gathered that the remains of the herder was found at the suspect’s farm on Thursday.
The lifeless body of the deceased has been mutilated before the suspect was later apprehended on Friday.
Sources revealed that cattles had earlier been grazed on the farm belonging to Ameachi, which made him and other farmers in the area lay ambush on them.
NSCDC spokesperson in the state, Kehinde Adeleke who confirmed the incident said a suspect was identified by a survivor of the incident.
“The Seriki Fulani of Ìjèbú Igbó reported the case at Orile Owu police station. A personnel of the corps was also present during the evacuation of the corpse from the farm.
“It has been confirmed that the apprehended suspect and farmer upon whose farmland the Fulani herdsmen grazed, killed the man.
“The survivor of the ambush arrived at the Orile Owu police station Friday and identified him as the one who attacked them and killed his co-herder.
“He, afterward, made a confessional statement and affirmed the identification made by the Fulani survivor,” the NSCDC operative said.
