The Osun State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of several suspects linked to the recent attack on popular Fuji musician, Alhaji Wasiu Alabi Ajibola, widely known as Pasuma, in Ikire, Osun State.
Pasuma was in Ikire, the headquarters of Irewole Local Government area, on Saturday, May 17, 2025, where he performed at the coronation ceremony of Chief Wasiu Ademola Abdulsalam Ajanaku as the Mogbede of Ikire Land, held at the GT Event Centre.
The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abiodun Ojelabi, who confirmed the incident, said the command has launched a thorough investigation and has already apprehended some suspects connected to the attack.
According to Ojelabi, the attack occurred shortly after Pasuma concluded his performance and was about to leave the venue.
“Some suspected hoodlums began pelting his convoy with stones, damaging a Hilux van and another vehicle in the entourage.
“The event was reported to have been successful until some hoodlums disrupted the peace as Pasuma made his way to his vehicle. They launched an attack on him and his band members,” Ojelabi stated.
While it remains unclear whether Pasuma or any of his band members sustained injuries, tension has reportedly gripped the town of Ikire over fears of a possible reprisal from the singer’s fans.
A video now circulating on social media shows damage to a black bus branded with Pasuma’s image, including a visible bullet hole, and a white Toyota Hilux vehicle. In the video, a voice—believed to be a member of Pasuma’s crew—speaks in Pidgin English, saying:
“They don attack us. See Paso car. They carry gun shoot us, but God dey. For this Ikire. Ikire don buy job and them go see am.”
