Osun Police arrest serial burglars, recover stolen items

By Michael Ofulue, Osogbo

The Osun State Police Command has arrested a suspected serial housebreaker, Adewumi Ademola Olaosun, 42, along with two alleged accomplices, in the Abidogun community of Ota-Efun.

The arrest followed intelligence gathering and cooperation from members of the community. Olaosun was reportedly caught unlawfully entering a residential building, from which the following items were allegedly stolen:

  • One LG plasma TV
  • One 6kg gas cylinder
  • One umbrella

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abiodun Ojelabi, the suspect was apprehended at the scene with assistance from local residents who responded to a distress call from the victim.

Subsequent investigation led to the arrest of two other suspects—Adedokun Isiaka, 57, and Abdullahi Hassan, 62—who are suspected to be receivers of the stolen items.

DSP Ojelabi said the suspects had been involved in several incidents of housebreaking and theft within the Abidogun and Kelebe communities. He noted that during interrogation, the suspects confessed to the crimes.

Four additional victims have reportedly identified the suspects as those responsible for previous burglary cases reported on 24 April 2025.
