Osun police assures  of fairness

Fisayo Akinduro, Osogbo
The Osun State Police command has restated its commitment to respect the fundamental human rights of the people and ensure fairness in the Saturday’s elections.

This is contained in a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP, Folasade Odoro in Osogbo on Tuesday.

Odoro said the command is restrategising to ensure adequate provision of security to make the polls peaceful and credible.

She said appropriate mechanisms are already in place and appealed to the general public to stay clear of hooliganism and thuggery, gangsterism or breach of electoral act.

Odoro said the command has also continued its statutory sensitisations and lectures for its officers and men, with a charge to be extremely apolitical and ensure total avoidance of high,-handedness in treating electorate.”

She urged residents of the state, especially political elites to eschew acts that could truncate the peaceful process of the rescheduled forthcoming Presidential and National Assembly elections.

The police spokesperson said officers and men of the command are now well informed and conversant with their duties to the members of general public, most importantly during the momentum of the elections.

She warned that anyone caught violating any of these laws will be severely dealt with according to the law of the land.

Odoro, however, called on the people to obey the laws of the federation as enshrined in the Constitution.
