Osun State Police Command is set to embark on special operation to arrest, prosecute and impound vehicles of violators of road traffic laws in the state, in line with the directive of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP.

The Public Relations Officer of the Command, DSP Yemisi Opalola, made this known in a statement  in Osogbo.

Opalola explained that the police command in Osun, as approved by the Commissioner of Police, Johnson Kokumo, would embark on special operation to effect arrest and ensure strict compliance with all Road Traffic Acts and other relevant laws.

She said that anyone found wanton would have his/her vehicle impounded and processed for prosecution .

“The Police authority under the leadership of the Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, in his lofty efforts to tackle all forms of crimes and criminality, has given marching order to all Commissioners of Police to commence the process of prosecuting individuals, officials of Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) and other corporate entities who use unregistered vehicles or transfer vehicle number plates to other vehicles not assigned or registered with such plate numbers, indiscriminate covering of plate numbers and the use of Police Spy number plates by motorists,” he said.

Opalola noted that these unwholesome acts of lawlessness posed security threat and risk to the nation.

She said that this had necessitated the need to inform members of the public or organisations in the unlawful acts to adhere strictly to all Road Traffic Acts and other relevant laws
