Osun Police nab serial shop burglar

Detectives of the Osun State Police Command have arrested a middle-aged man, who specialises in breaking people’s shops at Okefia area in Osogbo, Osun State capital.
The serial shop burglar, simply identified as Damilola Oladele was reportedly apprehended by Anti- Crime detectives who were on routine surveillance and patrol.
The Commissioner of Police in the state, Ishaq Muhammed, said the suspect burgled shops at the Agunbelewo area and stole valuable items.
The CP said the suspect was caught by men of the Nigeria Hunters and Forest Security Service (NHFSS), who informed the policemen on surveillance patrol around Osogbo metropolis.
Some of the items recovered from the suspect included, two black standing fans, two kegs of 25 litres of groundnut oil, cooking utensils, three power generating sets, one electric cooker, two gas cookers, one ring light, half bag of rice, one 12kg gas cylinder, one 6kg gas cylinder and one 3kg gas cylinder.
According to the police boss, the 24-year-old suspect was intercepted at Oke-Fia, roundabout Osogbo, with one big bag containing some food items, cooking utensils and other items suspected to be stolen.
The suspect was questioned about the items and could not give any satisfactory proof of ownership of the underlisted items found on him .
The suspect was, however, taken to the Anti-Kidnapping Squad for discreet investigation and questioning.
Having received the report, he said the detectives swung into action and in the course of investigations, it was discovered that the suspect had on different dates, burgled about 10 shops at Agunbelewo area of Osogbo and carted away items valued at N3 million.
The police boss said investigation revealed that the suspect who is living in the area solely carried out the crime in the shops and kept the items in his house.
Muhammed who said the suspect confessed to the crime and would be charged to court, warned criminal elements in the state to have a rethink or be ready to face the full weight of the Law .
