Osun Poly to establish department of Agric

The Osun state Polytechnic, Iree plans to establish the Department of Agriculture in the institution.
The Rector of the institution, Dr Olusola Agboola disclosed this during the closing ceremony of a three-day workshop organised by the institution.
Agboola said it is time to engage the change of perception of youths about agriculture and ensure the sector change the fortune of the nation.
The rector urged Nigerians to go back to their roots which is agriculture and stop depending on oil.
He added that Nigeria had in the past gained so much from agriculture.
“We have lost our focus and origin because oil has changed the country in terms of our behaviour and morals.”
He urged youths to embrace agriculture, saying it will serve as a means of livelihood and would also contribute to the growth of the country.
Also speaking, a representative of Winrock International, USA, Prof Jeffrey Allan Wood said the institution was chosen in order to cultivate the culture of agriculture into Nigerian youths.
Participants at the workshop implored youths to see agriculture beyond using cutlasses and hoes to dig, but one of the tools to develop the country.
