Osun residents lament poor condition of Ido-Osun road

By Michael Ofulue, Osogbo

Residents of the Aduramigba Community in Ido-Osun, Egbedore Local Government Area of Osun State, have cried out over the deteriorating condition of the recently tarred Ido-Osun Road, which they say is fast becoming a death trap.

The road, reportedly washing away just days after its completion, has drawn protests from community members, who blamed the contractor for substandard work.

In response to growing public concern, Governor Ademola Adeleke has directed the immediate rehabilitation of the affected road.

A statement by the Governor’s spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, confirmed that top officials from the Ministry of Rural Development, the Ministry of Works, and the O-RAMP Project had visited the community for an on-the-spot assessment.

The statement noted that the visiting team conveyed the Governor’s directive for a thorough review of the project and assured residents of prompt remedial action.

Beyond the road repairs, the Governor is also reportedly reviewing other pressing needs of the community. The assessment team is currently engaging with the contractors and project managers to gather reports and determine the necessary corrective steps.

“The government team is to report back to the Governor by Monday, after which further decisions will be taken,” the statement concluded.
