Osun State Government has restated its support for people with special needs who are into sports.
Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Mr Olayemi Lawal disclosed this while presenting wheelchairs to the people living with special needs.
He stated that Osun government knows the importance of people living with special needs in every area especially in terms of sports.
“I want to urge you to take care of the wheelchairs as if you bought it yourself because it is not possible for Government to take care of everybody at once but whosoever is privileged to receive benefit from the Government must use it judiciously.
“I want you to know, if Government wants to give wheelchairs to people with disabilities, it is not likely for you to be considered again.
”I remembered you said out of all sports that are very risky, power lifting is the most risky. For this reason I have proposed to a point of having assistant coach to be helping you.”
Lawal while appreciating them for lifting the glory of the state, assures them that the government will continue to support them.
Also speaking, Special Adviser to the Governor on Youth and Sports, Lateef Adelabu enjoined them not to relent in their efforts stating that government is expecting them to win more medals.
In his address, the General Manager of Sports Council, Mr Rotimi Dumoye appreciated the State Government for the good gesture and for not forgetting the para sports in the state.
He therefore pledged that, they will never let the state down.
