The Osun State Government has said  that it is partnering with some stakeholders on the Driving Theory Test (DTT) to reduce quacks and unfit drivers on highways.

Mr. Salaam Adewale, the Senior Special Adviser to Governor Ademola Adeleke on Transportation, disclosed this in an interview with newsmen during the inauguration of the DTT in Osogbo.

The theme of the inaugural event is “Ensuring Due Process in Driver’s License Processing.”

The Driver’s Theory Test is a system that ensures prospective applicants for Driver’s Licenses, after training under a certified Driving School, undergo tests.

The test also includes driving in the presence of Vehicle Inspection Officers before being allowed to be captured for a license.

Adewale said the reason for the partnership with other transport stakeholders, especially on DTT, was to ensure drivers are fit and qualified to drive on Osun roads.

He explained that the partnership would go a long way in sanitizing the state roads of quack and unfit drivers who endanger the lives of passengers.

According to him, the present administration of Governor Ademola Adeleke is working towards ensuring zero tolerance for accidents in the state.

Earlier, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Osun Sector Commander, Mr. Inyang Umoh, commended the state government for collaborating with transport stakeholders, stating that the DTT will sanitize the state roads from unqualified drivers.

Umoh urged drivers to adhere to the DTT initiative, which will help in keeping their lives and passengers safe.

“The DTT is already operating in some states, especially in the South West. It is a good initiative and will help to checkmate drivers on highways.”
