Osun to empower grassroots women

As part of efforts to reduce the level of poverty in the society, Osun State Government said it is passionate on empowering women at the grassroots.
Commissioner for Women, Children and Social Affairs, Mrs. Olaboopo Olubukola disclosed this during a working visit to the state Chairman of Association of Local Governments of Nigeria, ALGON.
Olaboopo stated that the Governor Gboyega Oyetola’s administration is concerned about the well-being of the women across the Local Government Areas in the state.
She stressed further that the ministry is working closely with relevant stakeholders in order to resuscitate women development centres and create new ones in the newly created Local Council Development Areas in the State.
She mentioned that the centres are meant for continuous training which will be headed by wives of chairmen across the State.
She solicited the cooperation of ALGON towards making the project a reality.
While responding the ALGON Chairman, Samuel Idowu lauded the Commissioner for the initiative aimed at making women economically independent and off the poverty bracket.
He expressed the group’s readiness to partner with the Ministry.
In her remarks, the Chairperson of the Forum Of Wives of Chairmen, Mrs. Idowu commended Olaboopo and ALGON for their continuous support for women.
She urged ALGON to join hands in bringing succour and empowerment to women.
