The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State has said that it does not woo opposition to join its fold contrary to the news that the party has been wooing former Akure North/Akure South Federal Constituency candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Olumuyiwa Adu into the party.
It explained that the recent defections of some PDP gladiators including its former Governorship aspirant and ex- Publicity Secretary, Mr. Banji Okunomo and ex-lawmaker, Adeyinka Banso among others were voluntary.
In an interview with The Hope yesterday, the State Director of APC, Mr. Steve Otaloro, who appreciated the defectors into the party recently as a result of its victory in all elections in the state, advised those planning to do same not to join the APC because of their ambitions.
He said defection into APC was due to its achievements and victory recorded in various elections in the state.
“We don’t woo people, our party is so legitimate, big and attractive to other party’s members to join.
” Inasmuch, we don’t stop people from coming to our party, we appreciate them coming and they should join APC at their grassroots and participate at the ward level meeting to support our party.
“Don’t come into our party because of your ambition. Coming into the party because of your ambition, you might not achieve it but join us to participate in the development of the party.
“When it is your turn, you will definitely get it .”
Otaloro, pointed out that Olumuyiwa will be welcomed into the APC if he wants to join the party, adding that what he will bring on board for APC to add to it and make it more attractive what is important to the party.
He,therefore, advised Olumuyiwa to join the APC as a gentleman not on the page of newspaper.
Otaloro noted that the APC under the leadership of Ade Adetimehin led the party to victory in various elections to make the party attractive to opposition.
