Our congress, indication of unity-Ondo PDP

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Ondo State chapter has said that the peaceful conduct of its ward and local government congresses was an indication of unity among the members of the party in a bid to ensure the PDP wins the forthcoming governorship election in the state.
The State Director of Media and Publicity of the party, Mr. Zadok Akintoye disclosed this to The Hope yesterday while reacting to the local government congress of the party held on Saturday and that of penultimate ward congress across the 18 councils of the state and 203 wards respectively.
Executive Officers from the chairmanship to ex-officio positions to lead the affairs of the party at the council level emerged during the process across all the local governments in the state.
The process which was monitored by officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC and under the watch of security agents, took place peacefully without rancour.
He said the congresses conducted so far by the party showed that the PDP in the state is a united family which is ready to bounce back to rule the state again.
Akintoye who noted that the party’s congresses have been almost entirely free of rancour said the state congress of the party where the state officials would emerge on Tuesday in Akure.
The spokesperson posited that the party had differences in the last Saturday council congress which include Odigbo and Akoko Northwest Local Government areas in the state, adding that the party members were able to resolve and agreed on the internal decision of the party for a unity list.
His words ” We had congress in the entirety 18 local governments in the state and where there was an issue, we allowed democratic congress to solve the matter”
Speaking with The Hope, a member of Congress Committee for Ondo East and former member of the State House of Assembly, Mr. Folagbade Gbemibade affirmed that the local government congress of the party at the weekend in the council was peaceful as new officials emerged through consensus.
