Our infrastructure decaying, Fabuluje tells govt

The General Manager of the Ondo State Sports Council, Mr Wande Fabuluje has appealed to the state government to come to their aid by fixing the dilapidated infrastructures in the council.

He made the appeal during an interview with The Sporting Hope in his office at the sports complex in Akure.

Fabuluje while commending the Governor,  Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu for his numerous infrastructural development scattered in all  the three senatorial districts.

However called his attention to the need to repair the  dilapidated roof of the indoor and Squash racket halls, Medical bay, Administrative blocks and others at the council.

According to him, it’s a statement of fact that we inherited all these , but since governance is a continuum, we plead for succour from the government to help us put the infrastructure in good shape”.

The General Manager added that good sporting infrastructures will motivate athletes and bring the best out of them.

He therefore  explained the readiness of the state contingent to the forthcoming National Youth Games later in the year at Ilorin, Kwara State, saying all hands are on deck to make sure the state excels in the competition.

He said “all our athletes and their coaches are on their training ground preparing ahead for the National Youth show piece, our people should be rest assured that we are not going to be left behind among the comity of the States”.

Answering questions on the impact of the sports Association Boards inaugurated few months ago, he said the association has been impacting greatly on sports in the state.

 He added further that the associations have been providing funds to coaches and athletes to participate in competitions both locally and internationally.

His words, “some of our coaches and athletes are currently in Abuja, ,Lagos and Benin for one program or the other courtesy of the associations, they are doing wonderfully well  financially and morally “.

“We are still calling for more collaborations from the private  individuals and corporate bodies to join hands with government to develop all round sports in the state”.
