A large number of men depend on different sexual enhancers (herbs or drugs) for optimal performance during sexual intercourse despite the risk involved. There have been reported cases of some men passing out during sexual intercourse after taking enhancement drugs while some had been reported to have died due to the same reason, Findings revealed.

Sexual enhancement drugs are those that enhance (normal/abnormal) erectile function and aphrodisiacs that increase sexual arousal and desire.

Some men who spoke with The Hope disclosed that they take sexual enhancement drugs on the advice of their wives who want them to improve their performances in the other room. A driver, Mr. Ajiboye Amao, revealed that he cannot do without taking sex-enhancement drugs otherwise, his wife would not be satisfied. His words: “I observed that my wife’s libido is high and the only way I can fill the gap is to fortify myself sexually.

“Initially, I was not comfortable with the idea of using drugs but the response from my wife anytime we had intimacy made me feel less of a man. I discussed this with a friend and he advised me to give a sexual enhancement drug a trial. I told my wife and she supported it, since then, I have been using it and getting good responses from my wife.”

When told that sexual enhancement drugs have negative side effects, he said: “Every drug has a way it affects one’s health,  the only solution is for one to obey the instruction. My conjugal duty as a man is to satisfy my wife if I don’t want her to employ the services of other men. That is the excuse some women gave to cheat on their husbands. I don’t want mine to be like that because I don’t want to commit murder. Let me do all I can to satisfy her so that she will keep to me alone, ” he said.

A salary earner who simply gave his name as Mr Adaramola hinted that more men are embracing sexual enhancement drugs to be on top of their game to impress their women and make a statement about their sexual prowess.

Asked if making a statement is necessary, he cuts in “why not? Do you want other men to be servicing my wife? Women are unpredictable because they are pretenders. Even though my wife was aware that I use sexual enhancers, she has never said anything against it. That means she is in support. Sexual enhancement drugs are a quick fix for me. It restores my sexual pride and makes me feel like a complete man.”

In the contribution of an artisan, Mr Rasak Bolojo, said that he turned to sexual enhancement drugs because his wife was not satisfied with one round. “My wife’s love for sex pushes me to use drugs that can make me compete favourably with her. I see it as a slap on my face for my wife to be asking for more and I cannot deliver. That challenge has been settled since I started using the enhancer, I can go on and on. It also makes it easier for me to get successive erections. So, men take them to impress women and show dominance in that regard.”

Mr Oriyomi said that men are using sexual enhancers as a backup, so as not to go down during action. “It is a way of reassurance that your battery is fully charged and cannot stop abruptly, especially when your speed is high.”

Asked if he was aware of its health hazards, he disagreed and said: “There is nothing that can convince me against using it because most of the food we are eating now are grown with fertilizers which affect men’s erection unlike during the days of our forefathers when 80 years old man could still impregnate a woman. How old am I that I will deny myself the pleasure in good sex? That is what I do to console myself because the present economic hardship is enough to make one lose hope.

 Besides, every drug has its side effects. For your information, the drugs  ensure better sexual performance. To be sincere with you, such drugs bring out the real man in you and put you in charge of your duty. Women like it and encourage their men to use it because it gives them sexual gratification. Sexual enhancement drugs give both parties involved a reason to appreciate the unexplainable enjoyment that sex offers. It is no doubt a win-win game for both because it gives them a moment to sheer.”

The Hope spoke with a medical expert, Dr Omowumi Osuji, on her take on sexual enhancement drugs. She advised those taking it to stop immediately in order not to risk their lives. The medical practitioner further warned that usage of such drugs could cause cardiovascular diseases like hypertension, heart failure, and other related diseases.

According to her, there were many instances where people who used sex-enhancement drugs ended up losing their lives.

Her words: “I have had a situation where two elderly couples who took sexual enhancer drugs simultaneously had a heart attack and died. Also, a young man of about 40 years of age, took herb for a sexual enhancer but also died in the course of having sexual intercourse. If anyone has a potency problem, such person should seek medical attention, rather than using enhancement drugs because it has many underlying side effects which may result in loss of life,” she warned.
