Owa’s transition: Traditional rites begin

As traditional rites for the passage of the Owa of Idanre commence, domestic animals like goats, fowls, and dogs are being slaughtered and feasted upon by the youth.

Notable personalities have been visiting the palace to express their shock at the demise of the frontline traditional ruler, Oba (Dr.) Frederick Adegunle Aroloye, and to sign the condolence register.

Investigation by The Hope revealed that hundreds of goats were slaughtered in all quarters of Idanre and feasted upon by the people without any challenge, as tradition demands.

Markets across the town have been relocated temporarily for the next seven days, and all the trees in the town have been trimmed.

Those who could not visit physically due to distance have made calls to express their shock at the demise of the royal father.

Prince Kayode Adebambo Aroloye, former Executive Chairman of Idanre Local Government, described the Owa as an epitome of a God-fearing leader who always ensured peace and unity in his domain.

He opined that the people of Idanre will miss his zeal for progress and development and his ever-neat and immaculate dressing style.

Chief Dr. Anthony Omolola, the President General of the Idanre Development Assembly, expressed his shock upon hearing the news and prayed that God grants the departed Oba Aroloye eternal rest and blesses all the good people he left behind and his immediate family.

Chief Dr. Engr. Benson Ajisegiri, Deputy President General of the Idanre Development Assembly, called from Abuja to relay his condolences.

He said the Owa lived a fulfilled life worthy of emulation, leading Idanre with utmost fairness, eagerness for unity, and rapid growth of the land.

He prayed that God grants him eternal rest and prosperity to all he left behind.

Adeleye Olusayero Jasper, a mortgage expert currently abroad, lamented the transition of Oba Aroloye.

He opined that it was a big and irreparable loss to the people of Idanre and the entire nation, who had been benefitting immensely from his wealth of wisdom borne out of experience and natural gift. He prayed that God gives him eternal rest.

Rev. Lambe Adewodun, an Ibadan-based pastor, revealed that Oba Aroloye was a leader the people of Idanre were proud of because he always stood for truth, fairness, and the development of the Idanre kingdom.

Princess Tosin Ogunlowo Ajirotutu, a member representing Idanre State constituency at the Ondo State House of Assembly, described the late Oba Aroloye as a great leader recognized for his humane approach to issues, high native intelligence, patriotism, and unalloyed love for his people and the people of Ondo State as a whole.

Mr. Sunday Akinwalire, the Ondo State Commissioner for Water Resources and Public Hygiene, said the Owa will be remembered as a great leader who dedicated his life to serving humanity, not only in Idanre but in the entirety of Ondo State.

He noted that the late Oba Aroloye had taken Idanre to greater heights and will be missed for his interest in always seeing Idanre as one indivisible entity with peaceful coexistence as a goal.

Mr. Smart Omotadowa, Chairman of Idanre Local Government Area, who came with his councillors and Vice Chairman, Kolawole Olomola, to the Owa’s palace, expressed sadness at the departure of the late Oba Aroloye.
