Owena Chapel gets new executives

New executives that will pilot the affairs of the  Nigeria Union of Journalists, (NUJ), Owena Press  Chapel has been    inaugurated.

The executives members are, Mr. Adekola Afolabi,   Chairman;  Miss. Mary Agidi-  Secretary and Mrs. Josephine Oguntoyinbo -Treasurer.

At the inauguration, the Chairman/Editor in Chief of the company, Sir Ademola Adetula commended the union members  for the peaceful conduct of the electoral process.

Represented by the Editor, Mr.Akindele Adubuola, the Chairman charged the new executives to put more efforts and commitment into ensuring that the union is given a new face and promised  to work with them to achieve common goals  that will in turn benefit every member.

 The State Chairman of NUJ, Mr. Adetona Aderoboye  in his inaugural speech urged the new executives to ensure that the union succeed, saying  they should work unanimously with the management and make the welfare of their members  a priority.

He assured them of the state secretariat’s   support.

The State  Secretary of the union, Prince Adeleke Adegbite urged the executives to liaise with  and ask questions from their predecessors whenever they hit a brickwall.

The outgoing chairman, Mr.Olusola Alatise in his valedictory speech said having the privilege to lead the chapel for seven years and seven months was a double honour  for him and his team.

He highlighted  part of his achievements to include; the peace the union enjoyed throughout his tenure, regular augmentation  of annual professional fees of members among others, noting that the  achievements made of the National Secretariat of NUJ to adjudge the chapel as the best by every standard during its last screening exercise .

He therefore charged the new executives to work as a united team, determined to succeed, see their calling as a selfless service, copy what they feel is good from their predecessors and  should not see themselves as  above board.

The electoral chairman, Mr Kayode Adegbehingbe in his situation report  said he felt elated when he was given the mandate to conduct the election adding that  the process was tough and rough because himself and his team have to work within a stipulated time of three weeks. He  commended his team and the aspirants for their conduct during and after the election.

Responding on behalf of the new executives, the newly inaugurated chairman, Mr. Adekola Afolabi applauded the electoral team for a job well done. He commended the outgoing executives, especially the chairman for their sagacity and commitment towards making  Owena Press chapel a force to  be reckoned with.
