Owena Press NUJ gets new exco

New executive members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Owena Press Chapel have been inaugurated.

The executives who were returned unopposed and inaugurated yesterday are: Mr Adekola Afolabi, Chairman, Mrs. Maria Famakinwa, Secretary and Mrs. Josephine Oguntoyinbo, Treasurer.

Addressing the new executive, Chairman/Editor-in-Chief of Owena Press Limited, Sir Ademola Adetula said their re-election was a vote of confidence and a reflection of acceptance by their colleagues.

He charged them to justify the confidence reposed in them as well as be good ambassadors of the company, stressing that union holds potent weapon in any organization

Adetula who declared that The Hope has been good ambassador of the state, said the integrity of the medium has earned it many respect within and outside the country among professional colleagues.

He said the medium is prepared to project the industrial revolution waiting to happen in the state with the coming of Ondo Deep Sea port and Bitumen exploration.

The chairman commended the cordial relationship that has been existing between the union and the management, assuring that he will continue to run an open administration.

Speaking before the dissolution of the immediate past executives, Mr Afolabi thanked the state council and members of the chapel for their immense support which, according to him, has ensured peace, progress, unity and love in the chapel.

“Members’ welfare has been our priority which we promise to sustain as we journey through another three years,” he said.

Adekola who promised to continue to prioritise the welfare of members above parochial interest appreciated all the members for their love and support. He also thanked the state council for attending to the welfare of members.

While commending the Chairman/Editor-in-Chief of Owena Press Limited, Sir Ademola Adetula for his fatherly role, giving every member of the union opportunity to develop, Adekola particularly appreciated him for making the welfare of the staff a priority.

While giving vote of thanks, Mrs. Maria Famakinwa, the new secretary, thanked everybody who contributed to the success of the transition.

The News Editor, Mr Olusola Alatise, had earlier moved a motion for the dissolution of the executive, a motion seconded by Assistant Editor, Mrs. Abimbola Akindunbi.

Inaugurating the new executives, chairman of NUJ Ondo State Council, Prince Leke Adegbite, represented by the Vice-Chairman, Mr Hakeem Gbadamosi, commended the chapel for the smooth transition which he said was devoid of competition.

The state chairman advised them to maintain unity in the union .
