The ancient town of Owo, Owo Local Government Area of Ondo State, was agog on Friday, as a mobilization rally organized by the State’s Finance Commissioner, Mrs. Omowumi Isaac, turned into a carnival.
Midway through the rally, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa and his deputy, Dr. Olayide Adelami, stormed the event.
Shops and other Commercial activities were put on hold as the residents of Owo and the adjoining communities trooped out in large numbers in support of the governor.
The Owo event was marked by the mass mobilization of All Progressives Congress (APC) loyalists, led by Owo Local Government Director of the Lucky Aiyedatiwa Campaign Organisation Foot Soldiers Independent Council (LACO-FSIC), Dr. Adeyemi Olayemi.
Aiyedatiwa, at the moving rally that traversed all the flashpoints in Owo, reiterated his commitment to implementing masses-oriented programmes started by his predecessor and late Governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu .
He expressed his appreciation to the residents of Owo and environs for the love shown, which served as an elixir that translated to infrastructural development and human empowerment programmes achieved so far .
Speaking at the rally, Omowumi Isaac, the Finance Commissioner who hails from Owo, remarked that the mobilization rally, which served as a prelude to the governor’s main campaign rally, was a token of love from Owo residents.
“We can all feel the impact of the governor through various road and other projects cutting across the three senatorial districts and through his empowerment initiatives by granting soft loans to petty traders, artisans, and peasant farmers, among others.
“As Finance commissioner, I know that the governor is a good manager of resources, and he has done well to regularly pay workers’ salaries and execute several projects within 10 months of being in the saddle, despite the apparent economic challenges facing the country,” Isaac praised.
In the same vein, Olayemi, who is the Governor’s Special Adviser on Environment, enjoined the people of Owo and its environs to come out en masse on November 16 and vote for Aiyedatiwa to enable the governor continue his good works.
“We can’t afford to abandon a performing governor for another choice with no track record of credible performance, and I’m proud of Owo heritage, that we are a people who can conveniently sieve the chaff from the wheat,” Olayemi enthused.
