Owo LG Chairman apologises to Olowo over viral voice note

The Chairman of Owo Local Government Area of Ondo State, Mr Tope Omolayo has rendered an unreserved apology to the Olowo of Owo Kingdom, Oba (Dr.) Ajibade Gbadegesin Ogunoye III, over a viral voice note in which he made what he described as “deeply regrettable and unruly statements.”

In a letter addressed to the monarch, the council boss expressed deep remorse, admitting that his utterances were disrespectful to the highly revered stool and the personality of the Olowo.

“I take full responsibility for my words and acknowledge the grave disrespect they conveyed towards your highly revered stool and personality. I am profoundly sorry for any hurt, embarrassment, or disappointment my utterances may have caused you, our royal household and the good people of Owo Kingdom,” he wrote.

He described his comments as thoughtless and not a true reflection of the values and respect he holds for the traditional institution and the Olowo, whom he referred to as the custodian of Owo’s cherished heritage.

The chairman, who noted that the incident had served as a sobering experience, sought the monarch’s forgiveness, saying it had reinforced his resolve to act with greater wisdom, humility and respect in future.

He reaffirmed his unwavering loyalty and commitment to the Governor of Ondo State, Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa and the All Progressives Congress (APC), pledging to continue working in alignment with the party’s ideals and in support of the governor’s vision for the development of the state, particularly Owo.

The council boss further appealed to all indigenes of Owo, both at home and in the diaspora, to join hands in building a peaceful and progressive community, emphasising that no meaningful development could thrive in an atmosphere of discord and disunity.

“To our esteemed councillors, I express my sincere gratitude for your steadfastness and support. I humbly seek your continued cooperation as we strive to fulfil our mandate to the people,” he added.
