Owo residents appeal to govt over flood

Residents of Ugbo Ohoye community in Owo Local Government area of Ondo state have appealed to govt and relevant agencies to come to their aid in putting an end to flood cases in the axis.
They made the appeal during an on the spot inspection by the lawmaker representing Owo Constituency 1, Oluwole Ogunmolasuyi and officials of Nigeria Erosion and Water Shed Management Project (NEWMP) to know the extent of damage and ways to curtail it.
Residents of the community narrated that they were rendered helpless as flood submerged several houses and shops in the community.
According to them, the flood occurred as a result of heavy rainfall since last week which has wreaked havoc on buildings and caused erosion to overflow culverts in the area.
Some residents of the community, Victor Ololadelegan and Dada Ayodeji noted that the flood destroyed structures and became a threat to occupants of the area.
Ogunmolasuyi said necessary steps will be taken to curtail flooding in the area.
He posited that they visited the community to find a way of alleviating their plight.
The lawmaker averred that “with the intervention of relevant stakeholders to solve ecological issues in the state, it is hoped that necessary actions will be taken to make life more meaningful for the people of the community and Ondo state in general”.
