Owo set for Akeredolu’s mum’s burial

All Hotels and guest houses in Owo have been fully booked ahead of Saturday’s final burial of Mrs Grace Abosede Akeredolu, mother of Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu.

The late matriarch passed on peacefully on September 15, this year at the ripe age of 90 years.

Reports from Owo, country home of Governor Akeredolu showed that a water tight security has been put in place to ward off any breach of security in anticipation of prominent guests expected at the event.

Our correspondent who visited the ancient town on Saturday to appraise preparations for the event saw a detachment of soldiers of the operation Exercise Still Water mounting a stop and check on vehicles entering and leaving the town.

The soldiers were seen politely asking motorists to come down for a routine check of their vehicles.

Already, social activities have also peaked in the town ahead of the three-day event as several groups and societies are in last minute preparation for the burial.

The Hope observed that all tailors in the town are also reaping from the burial ceremonies as they are busy sowing the uniforms (aso ebi) bought for the occasion.

Details of the event revealed that a service of songs will flag off the funeral service at St Annes Anglican Church, Molete, Ibadan on Thursday at 9am as well as at Jacob and Grace Chapel of the All Saints Church, Iddo Eruwa Road, Ibadan. Time: 4pm. Friday, November 11, 2022
